Campground Accommodation

A peaceful spot in a beautiful rural geothermal valley, our campground offers a great place to stay for those in campervans, motorhomes and tents, with free access to our thermal hot pool complex.

Adjoining our pool complex is a 26-site campground with powered and non-powered sites available.

There are free shower, and  kitchen facilities plus a thermally-heated drying room available to use during your stay. Coin operated laundry facilities are also available.

How to book:

To book please contact us as campground bookings aren’t available online.
Please let us know if you require a powered or unpowered motorhome site, or a tent site, and give us a description of your vehicle or tent.

Check-out: 11am
Early check-in fee applies

We have powered and non-powered sites the cost is as follows:


Powered sites that cost Adult $32 p/night, Child (15 to 5) $17 p/night and under 5 is $4 per night.

Non-powered sites cost Adult $28 p/night, Child (15 to 5) $15 p/night and under 5 is $4 p/night.


These prices include access to our 6 public pools.


Please advise if you are coming with a Campervan, Caravan or tent to make the site choice correct. Please note we do not have powered tent sites.


Please note check-in is 2pm and check out-is 11am. Pets are only allowed upon advising us.


Please note on long weekends including Easter and Xmas the following applies:
 1. Two night minimum stay 

 2. Full payment up front to required to hold the site. This payment is to be made within 24 hours of the booking. If payment is not made this will then release the hold       on the site. A refund will be given if notice of cancellation is done 48 hours before arrival. A $10 administration fee will be taken from the refund. 


Things to do

Waikite Valley Thermal Pools campground is the ideal place to stay to explore things to do in Rotorua, or for those travelling between Rotorua and Taupo. There are fantastic geothermal attractions on the doorstep, including Waimangu Volcanic Valley. We are close to the walking and biking trails at Rainbow Mountain, and are right on Te Ara Ahi Cycle Trail, part of Ngā Haerenga, the New Zealand Cycle Trail. We are also on the bikepacking route Kōpiko Aotearoa, an ideal spot to soak in the hot pools and relieve tired legs!

Conditions for use - Powered Sites

we wish to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for campers and staff.
If you wish to hire a powered site for the duration of your stay, your campervan/ caravan/motorhome MUST DISPLAY a current electrical warrant of fitness.

Your RCD camping powered leads and sockets must be in good condition, no cuts or kinks and of robust construction.

Pet friendly accommodation

We allow pets in the campground by prior arrangement only. Please let us know at time of booking. Please note, pets are not allowed in the pool area and the Eco-Trail.
