Rotorua's Waikite Valley Hot Pools is a natural thermal bathing complex. Water for our pools comes straight out of the Te Manaroa natural boiling spring, and is then cooled before entering the pools.
This 100% natural thermal water is not treated with any chemicals whatsoever nor is it filtered or recycled back into the pools. The ‘Living Waters’ of Waikite Valley is the only thermal pool complex of this size in New Zealand using only 100% pure natural geothermal water. Given the nature of the water we recommend that you keep your head above water when swimming.

The Settlers Pool
The Settlers Pool is the foundation of the Waikite Valley Hotpools complex. It marks the beginning of bathing in the Te Manaroa Spring Waters, whereby settlers to Waikite Valley devised a means to divert and cool the boiling waters of Te Manaroa. A series of cascades were built to flow the thermal waters over, with the intention of using air temperatures to cool the water from the spring to suitable bathing temperatures .Once this was achieved they set about to build a pool which was opened on 1st July 1972. Today the Settlers pool sits between 36°- 38° Celsius for all to enjoy.
The Sit and Soak Pool
With an average temperature of 39° - 41° Celsius, it's easy to soak away stress and worries whilst taking in the fresh country air.
The Tranquil Garden Pool
Our Tranquil Garden Pool overlooks the boiling Otamakokore Stream and out across the Waikite Valley through native bush. Enjoy nature’s ambience at its best during the day or soak under the stars at night in the 37°- 39° Celsius pool.
The Pergola Pool
Enjoy stunning views overlooking the boiling Otamakokore Stream and Waikite Valley beyond while soaking in the 35°- 38° Celsius covered Pergola Pool.
The Outdoor Tubs
Relax in the outdoor tubs for a cool off in 30°- 34° Celsius water while watching the action in the main Settlers pool.
Private Pools

Private pool bookings are for 40 minutes and then you may enjoy the 6 general pools afterwards. Each pool is 1.6m in diameter and most suitable for two people. Bookings are recommended. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your booking time. For health and safety purposes, there must be 2 people in a private pool at all times.
Standard Private Pool
When you purchase the standard private pool option, you can enjoy a private, soothing soak surrounded by native bush and geothermal activity as well as views into Waikite Valley. A private pool enables bathers to control the water temperature of their individual pool for 40 minutes before enjoying the 6 general pools.
Spa Plus
When you purchase the spa plus option, you can enjoy a private, soothing soak surrounded by native bush and geothermal activity as well as views into Waikite Valley in a more
spacious room than a standard private pool. Like the general private pool, bathers can control the water temperature of their individual pool for 40 minutes before enjoying the 6 general pools.

When you purchase the spa plus option, you can enjoy a private, soothing soak surrounded by native bush and geothermal activity as well as views into Waikite Valley in a more

Changing Facilities
Our clean, functional changing facilities offer plenty of room. Our facilities include hot showers, toilets, baby changing tables, a family changing room and easy access for wheelchairs.
